Description of Fishing:The Seychelles and area around Alphonse Island have some of the finest flats fishing the world has to offer. Bonefish, trevally and milkfish are the primary species available to clients. Incredible numbers of fish as well as large fish make the area perfect for beginner and advance fly anglers. Virtually all fishing is done by wading, however if you wish to be poled, the guides will accomodate you. The flats are mostly hard sand and wading them is generally very easy. Typically, 10-15 bonefish are landed per day, often many many more! Some flats hold large numbers of fish in the 4-5 pound range while others are more suited to the larger fish. Stalking the larger fish can be very challenging and entertaining but will bring the numbers per day down but may land you the fish of a lifetime. The largest weighed and measured is a whopping 14.5 pounds! Trevally are one of the strongest fighting and most aggressive fish you'll ever encounter on the flats. Powerful runs and heartstopping strikes are the trademarks of these fish which often strike hit flies repeatedly until they are hook! In recent years, milkfish have been targeted by Alphonse Island Fishing Company. The fish rip off line twice as fast as a bonefish and jump like tarpon! They are tough to land but make for a great change of pace for anglers looking for some excitement.
Additional Info:Your fishing day starts after a full breakfast when you depart on the mothership for St. Francois lagoon. You will be ferried aboard the mothership each morning and then transferred to the skiffs for the day's fishing. Lunch can be taken on the skiffs or to relax and get off the water for a bit, you can return to eat aboard the mothership. The typical fishing day runs around 8 hours.
