Description of Fishing:The fishing on Grand Bahama is some of the finest in the islands. Anglers will be met each morning in front of the hotel by their guide and driven (10 minutes) to the boats (Maverick Mirage flats boats). You'll then fish some of the most gorgeous flats you'll find anywhere.
Fabled areas like Water Cays, Airplane Flats and the West End team with bonefish that average as large as we've found almost anywhere (4-6 lb average!). Many of our client's largest bonefish have come from these waters. 7 and 9 pound fish are a normal occurance and we remember only a couple of trips where we didn't see fish over 10!
Permit are also seen fairly frequently and are usually large fish on the average.
Greg Vincent, a veteran flats fisher with worldwide guiding experience and fishing coordinator at Pelican Bay, has told us that he excited about the tarpon fishing as well. Check back with us for more details.
Additional Info:Located just outside of Freeport on Grand Bahama, Port Lucaya and Pelican Bay is an ideal spot for the quick trip down over a long weekend. Many of our clients fly out on a Friday fish, gamble, dine or golf on Saturday and Sunday and then catch a flight home Sunday evening. Sure beats weekend yard work. Call us for detail!
